Solar Panel & System Removal & Disposal
Replacing or upgrading a solar system? Old panels, inverters, mounting frames, and solar hardware need to be properly collected and disposed of — they cannot go in a standard skip, and council bulk pickup will not take them. We work directly with solar installation companies and electricians across the Coffs Coast to collect old systems after disconnection, so your team can get off site faster and your customer is left with a clean property.
Important — before we arrive
The solar system must be fully disconnected and signed off by a licensed electrician before we collect. We handle the removal and disposal — not the disconnection or electrical work.
A Service Built for Solar Installers
When a solar installation company replaces an existing system, the old panels, mounting frames, inverter, and cabling cannot go in the van, they are too large for a skip bin, and leaving them at the property is not an option. That creates a genuine logistical problem at the end of every replacement job.
We solve it. Your electrician disconnects and signs off. We come and collect the old system — same day or next day in most cases. Your crew gets off site, your customer gets a clean property, and the old solar equipment goes to the right place.
Set up a trade account with us and it becomes even simpler — one call, we confirm timing, we collect, and you receive a monthly invoice. No weighing up disposal options on every job.

Solar Panel Removal
Old panels, inverters, frames, and hardware properly collected and recycled
How It Works
Book Before or During the Install
Let us know when the replacement is happening. We can book the pickup for the same day or coordinate to arrive once your team has completed disconnection.
Electrician Disconnects & Signs Off
The licensed electrician completes the disconnection and signs off the system as safe. That step is on your team — not ours.
We Arrive & Load Out
We collect the panels, inverter, mounting frames, and associated hardware using our fully enclosed pantech truck and 600kg tailgate lifter. No damage to roofing, driveways, or surrounds.
Responsible Disposal & Recycling
Solar panels contain silicon, glass, aluminium, copper, and other recoverable materials. We take old systems to licensed facilities where materials are recovered where possible rather than going straight to landfill.
Why You Cannot Just Bin Old Solar Panels
Solar panels contain silicon, glass, aluminium, and small amounts of metals including lead and cadmium. That makes them a form of e-waste — and like televisions, computers, and batteries, they should not go in your general rubbish bin or end up in landfill if it can be avoided.
In NSW, improper disposal of e-waste is taken seriously. We sort and handle solar panels responsibly, directing materials to appropriate recycling and processing facilities wherever possible. We are committed to keeping as much as we can out of landfill across every job we do.
Standard skip bins are often not set up to accept solar panels, and general council collections will not take them. Getting them to the right facility takes local knowledge — and that is exactly what we have.
E-Waste Classification
Solar panels are classified as e-waste in NSW. Landfill disposal is not appropriate and may not be accepted at general facilities.
Lead & Cadmium Content
Small amounts of heavy metals in panels require correct processing — not general rubbish handling.
Glass & Silicon Recovery
The glass, silicon, and aluminium in solar panels can be recovered and reused when taken to the right facility.
Copper & Metal Recycling
Wiring, frames, and hardware contain recyclable copper and aluminium that should not go to landfill.
What We Collect
We collect all standard solar system components from residential and light commercial properties. Send photos if you have an unusual system type and we will confirm.
Solar Panels
Standard rooftop panels of any brand, age, or condition. We collect regardless of whether they are cracked, degraded, or end-of-life.
Solar Inverters
String inverters, microinverters, and hybrid inverters removed as part of a system upgrade or replacement.
Mounting Frames & Racking
Aluminium and steel mounting frames, rails, clamps, and racking components removed after panel collection.
Batteries & Storage Systems
Solar battery systems including lithium and lead-acid units. Call to confirm handling requirements for your specific system.
Cabling & Conduit
DC cabling, conduit runs, isolators, and associated wiring removed as part of a full system clearance.
Ground-Mounted Systems
Ground-mounted solar arrays and associated frames from rural, commercial, or large residential properties.
What we do not do
We do not remove panels from roofs — that is part of the installer's scope. We collect once the system has been brought down from the roof and is accessible at ground level or on the property. We also do not perform any electrical disconnection or sign-off — that must be completed by a licensed electrician before we arrive.
Why Solar Panels Need Correct Disposal
Solar panels are a significant waste challenge. Australia installed hundreds of thousands of systems in the early 2010s and many of those are now reaching end of life. The panels contain glass, silicon, aluminium frames, copper wiring, and small amounts of lead and other materials — they are classified as e-waste in most Australian states and cannot be sent to general landfill.
Correct disposal means getting them to a facility that can process e-waste and recover the materials properly. That is not a standard skip bin job, and it is not something a homeowner can easily organise on their own.
For solar installers, offering a complete service — including old system removal — is increasingly expected by customers and can be a genuine point of difference. We make that easy to include without adding complexity to your operation.

Pricing
Solar system removal is priced based on how much of the truck the material fills — panels, frames, inverter, and associated hardware. A standard 6–10kW residential system typically fills a quarter of the truck. Send photos for an accurate quote.
All prices include GST, labour, loading, truck, and correct e-waste disposal. Access, travel distance, and system size affect the final price. Trade account pricing available for solar companies with regular work. Send photos for the most accurate quote.
Factors That Affect Price
- Number of panels and total system size
- Whether frames and mounting hardware are included
- Access — panels on the ground vs stacked on a roof
- Battery system — type and size affect handling
- Travel distance from Coffs Harbour
- Same-day vs scheduled collection

Common Questions
Do you take the panels off the roof?
No — removing panels from the roof is the installer's or electrician's scope. We collect once the panels and hardware have been brought down and are accessible at ground level or on the property.
Do I need to be home for the collection?
Not necessarily. Many customers arrange access while they are at work or away. As long as the panels are in an accessible spot — driveway, yard, or side of the property — we can complete the job and let you know when it is done.
Can you come same day or next day?
Yes — same-day and next-day collection is available across the Coffs Coast, subject to availability. For urgent jobs, call early in the day and we will do our best to get there. We work with a lot of solar trades and understand tight installation deadlines.
Can you collect inverters, batteries, and frames too?
Yes — we collect the whole system. Inverters, mounting frames, racking, old batteries, cabling, and conduit. Just let us know everything that needs to go when you enquire so we can price and prepare accordingly.
What happens to old solar panels?
Solar panels are classified as e-waste in NSW. We take them to licensed e-waste processing facilities where glass, silicon, aluminium, and copper are recovered and recycled where possible — rather than going straight to landfill.
Can my solar company set up a regular account?
Absolutely. Solar installation companies on the Coffs Coast can set up a trade account for straightforward pickups and monthly invoicing. Call John directly on 0415 540 055 to get it set up.
