Lead Acid Battery Recycling

Lead acid batteries — car batteries, truck batteries, UPS units, forklift batteries, and industrial backup batteries — are classified as hazardous waste and cannot go to general landfill. They contain lead, sulphuric acid, and other materials that need correct handling and processing. We offer a user-pays collection service for lead acid batteries from homes, businesses, job sites, and depots across the Coffs Coast, transporting them to registered recycling facilities for safe processing and material recovery.

Damaged or leaking batteries

Cracked, leaking, or swollen batteries require special handling. Let us know in advance — we will advise on packaging and handling requirements before collection. Do not place damaged batteries in enclosed spaces or near heat sources.

What We Collect

Lead acid batteries are one of the most recyclable products in use — up to 99% of the materials in a lead acid battery can be recovered and reused. Lead is recovered and reused in new batteries. The plastic casing is recycled. The acid is neutralised and processed. Keeping them out of landfill is both an environmental and regulatory requirement.

Businesses and trades that accumulate old batteries — mechanics, auto electricians, solar installers, IT companies with UPS units, forklifts, and telecommunications — are often looking for a straightforward collection service. We come to you and handle the transport to a registered facility.

  • Automotive batteries — cars, trucks, motorcycles, marine
  • UPS (uninterruptible power supply) batteries
  • Industrial and forklift batteries
  • Solar system deep-cycle batteries
  • Telecommunications and backup power batteries
  • Mobility scooter and wheelchair batteries

How It Works

1

Tell Us What You Have

Number of batteries, types, and your location. Photos help with bulk or unusual battery types. Let us know if any are damaged or leaking in advance.

2

We Confirm & Book

Upfront pricing based on quantity, type, and collection location. Trade accounts available for businesses with regular battery waste.

3

We Collect & Transport

We come to you — home, business, or job site. Batteries are loaded and secured for safe transport to a registered recycling facility.

4

Processed at a Registered Facility

All batteries go to a facility registered to handle hazardous materials under NSW regulations. Lead, plastic, and acid are all recovered correctly.

IT Companies & Solar Installers

If you regularly replace UPS batteries in client sites or decommission solar battery banks, a trade account means one call handles the collection. We collect, transport, and you pass on the disposal cost as part of the job. Monthly invoicing available.

Pricing

Battery recycling is a user-pays service. Pricing is based on the volume and weight of batteries collected and the work involved. Lead acid batteries are heavy — a pallet of UPS batteries or a set of forklift batteries takes significant weight and space on the truck.

Minimum pickup (small number of batteries)From $110
Up to 1/4 Truck (~4–5m³ of batteries)$498.99
Up to 1/2 Truck (~8–10m³ of batteries)$998.99
Up to 3/4 Truck (~13–15m³ of batteries)$1,498.99

All prices include GST, labour, truck, and delivery to a registered hazardous waste recycling facility. Leaking or damaged batteries requiring special handling may incur a surcharge. Send a list or photos for an accurate quote.
