Air Conditioning Recycling
Old air conditioning units contain refrigerant gases that must be legally removed by a licensed refrigeration mechanic before the unit is disposed of. Once your tech has degassed and disconnected the unit, we take care of the rest — collecting the hardware from your premises and delivering it to a registered e-waste and metals recycling facility. A user-pays collection service for homes and businesses across the Coffs Coast.
Degassing must happen first — it is the law
Refrigerant gas recovery must be carried out by a licensed refrigeration mechanic before the unit is removed or transported. This is a legal requirement under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act. We collect after degassing is complete — we do not provide refrigerant recovery services.
What We Collect
Air conditioning units are a mix of aluminium, copper, steel, and plastics — all recoverable materials once the refrigerant is properly removed. The copper coils and aluminium fins in a split system outdoor unit have real scrap value. Getting them to the right facility means those materials are recovered rather than landfilled.
We collect split system indoor and outdoor units, window units, portable units, and ducted system components. If you are upgrading an old system, renovating, or replacing units across multiple properties, we can collect everything in a single visit once your tech has signed off on degassing.
- Split system outdoor units (condensers)
- Split system indoor units (evaporators/heads)
- Window and wall-mounted units
- Portable air conditioners
- Ducted system components — air handlers, grilles
- Commercial cassette and ceiling units
- Multi-head systems and VRV/VRF outdoor units
- Dehumidifiers and evaporative coolers
- Old refrigerant lines and copper pipework
How It Works
Your Tech Degasses & Disconnects
A licensed refrigeration mechanic recovers the refrigerant gas from the system. Electrical disconnection is completed. The unit is ready for removal.
Send Us Details
Tell us what units need collecting — type, quantity, access (ground floor, roof, high wall mounts), and your suburb. Photos help with accurate pricing.
We Collect & Load
We come to your property and collect the decommissioned units. Outdoor condensers, indoor heads, and any associated components all go on the truck.
Taken to Registered Recycling
Units go to a registered recycling facility where aluminium, copper, steel, and plastics are separated and recovered. Compressors are handled correctly.
Air Con Installers & Property Managers
If you install and replace air conditioning across multiple properties on the Coffs Coast, a trade account means we handle the removal of the old units once you are done. You pass on the disposal cost to your client. Monthly invoicing available.
Set Up a Trade AccountPricing
Air conditioning recycling is a user-pays service priced by the volume of units and the work involved. A single split system is a minimum-charge job. Multiple units or commercial systems are priced by how much of the truck they fill.
All prices include GST, labour, truck, and delivery to a registered recycling facility. Units must be degassed by a licensed tech before collection — we cannot collect units with refrigerant still present. Roof-mounted and high-access units may affect pricing. Send photos for an accurate quote.
