From $110.00Trade-Friendly ServicePicked Up After DisconnectionCoffs Coast

Hot Water System Removal & Disposal

Your plumber or electrician installs the new system. We come and take the old one away. Fast, professional, and properly disposed of — starting from $110. A service built for trades, strata managers, property managers, landlords, and homeowners across the Coffs Coast.

Important — before we arrive

The hot water system must be fully disconnected, drained, and signed off by your plumber or electrician before we collect. We handle the removal and disposal — not the disconnection.

Built for Trades & Property Professionals

When a plumber or electrician replaces a hot water system, the old unit does not fit in their van, it is too heavy for the bin, and council bulk pickup is not reliable enough to plan around. That leaves the trade standing around waiting, or the old system sitting on a veranda for weeks.

We solve that. Your trade does the job. We come and collect the old unit — same day or next day in most cases. Trades get off site faster. Your client or tenant is not left with an old hot water system blocking the driveway.

  • Plumbers — set up a trade account for regular pickups
  • Electricians — we collect after solar and heat pump system replacements
  • Home handymen — if you have done the disconnection, we take it from there
  • Strata managers — coordinate removal across multiple units
  • Property managers — organise disposal without relying on tenants
  • Landlords — professional disposal as part of a rental upgrade
  • Homeowners — we collect while you focus on the new installation

How It Works

1

Book Before or After the Job

Call or text us when you know the replacement is happening. We can schedule the pickup for the same day or while the trade is still on site.

2

Trade Disconnects & Signs Off

The plumber or electrician completes their job and disconnects and drains the old unit. That step is on them — not us.

3

We Arrive & Remove It

We load the old system onto our truck using the tailgate lifter. No damage to driveways, no dragging, no mess left behind.

4

Responsible Disposal

Old hot water systems contain steel, copper, and other metals. We take them to a licensed facility for proper recycling and disposal.

Hot Water Systems We Remove

We remove most types of domestic and light commercial hot water systems. If in doubt, send us a photo and we will confirm.

Electric Storage Tanks

The most common residential system. Usually 125L–400L. Heavy when full — we bring the tailgate lifter.

Gas Storage Hot Water Systems

Floor-mounted or external units. Disconnected by your plumber before we arrive.

Continuous Flow / Instantaneous Systems

Wall-mounted gas or electric. Smaller and lighter — usually at the lower end of pricing.

Heat Pump Hot Water Systems

Larger units, sometimes awkward to access. Quote based on size, location, and access.

Solar Hot Water Storage Tanks

Ground-mounted tank removal (not roof panel removal). Quote based on size and access.

Commercial & Strata Systems

Larger commercial or multi-unit storage systems. Quoted on inspection or from photos.

What we do not remove

We do not remove roof-mounted solar panels or collectors. We also do not disconnect live gas or electrical connections — the unit must be disconnected and signed off by a licensed trade before we arrive.

Pricing

Hot water system removal starts from $110. The final price depends on the size and type of system, access, location on the property, whether it has been drained, and travel distance.

Why You Cannot Just Put It on the Verge

Council Bulk Pickup Won't Take It

Most councils do not accept hot water systems in standard bulk rubbish collections. They are too large and contain materials requiring specific disposal.

Too Heavy to Move Without Equipment

A 250L storage tank weighs 50–80kg empty. Without a tailgate lifter and proper technique, you are looking at a back injury or a damaged driveway.

Can't Go in a Skip Bin

Hot water systems are generally not accepted in standard skip bins due to their size and the materials inside.

Trades Don't Have the Van Space

Plumbers and electricians are not set up to haul large appliances. Their vehicles are already loaded with tools and new equipment.

Verge Dumping Is Illegal

Leaving a hot water system on the nature strip outside of an official bulk collection is illegal dumping — even if it looks tidy.

Proper Recycling Matters

Old hot water systems contain steel, copper, and other recyclable metals. We take them to licensed facilities where these materials are recovered properly.

Common Questions

Does the unit need to be drained first?

Yes — the tank should be fully drained and disconnected before we arrive. A full or partially full tank is significantly heavier and may affect pricing. Your plumber will drain it as part of the replacement job.

Can you pick it up while the plumber is still on site?

Yes, and that is often the most efficient option. The trade completes disconnection and we arrive to remove the unit while they are finishing up or just after.

Can you access tight spaces, under-house areas, or confined laundries?

We handle most situations. Tell us the access details when you enquire and we will confirm whether any additional labour or equipment is needed.

Do you remove the pipes or fittings?

No. We remove the tank or unit itself. Pipe and fitting removal is the plumber's scope. We collect the appliance once it is completely disconnected and ready to go.

Can you invoice my plumbing or electrical business directly?

Yes. Trade accounts can be set up with invoiced terms. Call to discuss how you would like to structure regular pickups and billing.

What if it is on a second floor or in a roof space?

Upstairs or roof-space units require more labour and may affect pricing. Send photos and access details and we will give you an accurate quote before we commit.
