Our Story
John started collecting scrap metal as a hobby in 2003. What began as weekend runs with a trailer turned into something bigger. “The Scrap Metal Man” was officially registered in 2009, and over the years the business grew into what it is today — The Junk Removers & Pick Up Pros.
Family-run by John and Leanne Cook, the business has been operating for more than 20 years on the Mid North Coast. That kind of longevity does not happen by accident. It comes from turning up when you say you will, pricing jobs honestly, treating people's properties with care, and building a reputation one job at a time.
John and Leanne are supported by long-term loyal casual staff who have worked alongside the business for years. These are not strangers from a booking app — they are familiar faces who know the truck, know the standards, and know how to do the job properly. When extra crew is needed for larger jobs, estate clearances, or hoarder clean-ups, the same trusted people step in.
Based in Coffs Harbour, we service the Mid North Coast from Port Macquarie to Yamba for rubbish removal, estate clearances, property cleanouts, and commercial work. The Pick Up Pros side handles bulky pickups, IKEA delivery, major retailer collections, Marketplace and Gumtree deliveries, and Sydney-to-Brisbane transport runs.

Meet Merlin
Our truck has a name — Merlin. He is a 2020 Isuzu NNR 150 Pantech and a little magician who puts a smile on everyone's face when the job is done and the clutter is gone. Fully enclosed with a 600kg tailgate lifter, bull bar, driving lights, and a clean professional setup. Truck height is 3.10 metres.
