Important — before we arrive
Air conditioners contain refrigerant gas (R22, R410A, or similar) which must be decommissioned by a licensed refrigeration mechanic before disposal. The unit must be fully decommissioned and disconnected before we collect. We handle the removal and disposal — not the decommissioning.

When an air conditioner reaches the end of its life or gets replaced, the old unit is bulky, heavy, and contains refrigerant gas that requires specialist handling. It cannot go in a bin, most trades will not haul it away, and council bulk pickup does not accept them.

Trade Decommissions the Unit
Your licensed technician recovers the refrigerant gas and fully disconnects the unit. This step is mandatory and must be completed before we arrive.
We Arrive & Remove It
We load the old unit using the tailgate lifter where needed. No damage to walls, driveways, or surfaces. Both indoor and outdoor units collected.
Responsible Disposal
Old air conditioners contain aluminium, copper, steel, and plastics. We take them to a licensed facility for proper separation and recycling.
AC Systems We Remove
We remove most types of residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment. If in doubt, send us a photo and we will confirm.
Split System (Indoor + Outdoor)
The most common residential AC. We collect both the indoor head unit and the outdoor compressor — one pickup, one price.
Portable Air Conditioners
Freestanding portable units. No refrigerant recovery required in most cases — easier and faster to dispose of.
Window & Wall Units
Older window-mounted or through-wall AC units. Often heavy for their size — we bring the right equipment.
Ducted System Components
Indoor air handlers, return air boxes, and outdoor compressor units from ducted systems. Quote based on components and access.
Cassette & Ceiling Units
Ceiling-mounted cassette units or concealed duct systems. Access and ceiling type may affect pricing — send photos.
Commercial & Multi-Head Systems
Multi-split or commercial systems with multiple indoor units and one outdoor compressor. Quoted on inspection or photos.
Refrigerant gas — why it matters
Refrigerant gases (R22, R32, R410A) are controlled substances under Australian law. They must be recovered by a licensed refrigerant handling technician (ARCtick certified) before the unit can be removed or disposed of. We do not recover refrigerant — that is your installer's responsibility. Once the unit is decommissioned, we handle everything from that point.

Air conditioner removal starts from $110. The final price depends on the type and size of the unit, number of units, access difficulty, and travel distance.

Refrigerant Makes It Hazardous Waste
Even after decommissioning, old AC units are classified as controlled waste due to residual refrigerant and compressor oils. They require specialist disposal.
Council Bulk Pickup Won't Accept Them
Most councils specifically exclude air conditioners from standard bulk rubbish collections. They are too large and contain materials requiring specific handling.
Cannot Go in a Skip Bin
Standard skip bin hire excludes air conditioners and other whitegoods. Most operators will not take them, or charge heavy surcharges.
Too Heavy Without Equipment
An outdoor compressor unit can weigh 40–80kg. Moving it without proper equipment risks back injuries or damage to surrounding surfaces.
Illegal to Dump
Leaving an AC unit on the kerb outside of an official collection is illegal dumping — even if it looks neat. Fines apply.

Does the unit need to be decommissioned before you arrive?
Yes — the refrigerant must be recovered by a licensed refrigeration mechanic before we collect the unit. This is a legal requirement. Your HVAC installer will handle this as part of their replacement job.
Can you collect both the indoor and outdoor units?
Yes. A standard split system has an indoor head unit and an outdoor compressor — we collect both in a single pickup.
Can you collect from upper floors or rooftops?
We handle most access situations. Let us know the unit location and access details when you enquire — if specialist equipment is needed we will advise before booking.
Can you invoice my installation or refrigeration business?
Yes. Trade accounts can be set up with invoiced payment terms. Call to discuss how you would like to structure regular pickups and billing.
Do you remove the wall brackets or pipework?
No. We remove the unit itself. Wall brackets, line sets, and conduit removal is the installer's scope. We collect the appliances once they are disconnected and ready.
Can you do multiple units at the same property?
Yes — multi-unit pickups from the same property are more efficient and we can often offer a better rate. Mention the number of units when you enquire.
