How to Choose the Right Rubbish Removal Service for Your Property

Clearing a property can mean a single room, a rental between tenants, a house after a death in the family, or a shed full of old tools. Each job needs a different kind of service. Before you choose a rubbish removal company, it helps to be clear about what you need and what questions to ask.

Start with the type of job

  • Household clean-outs: general rubbish, old furniture, whitegoods and garage contents.
  • Rental and end-of-lease clear-outs: fast, reliable removal so the property can be handed back or re-let.
  • Estate and sensitive clearances: a respectful, unhurried approach and a plan for items the family wants to keep.
  • Commercial and office work: planned removal around business hours, with invoicing where needed.
  • Heavy or specialist items: mattresses, pianos, spas and appliances that need extra handling.

Knowing which of these you have helps you describe the job accurately when you request a quote.

Ask about insurance

Ask whether the business holds public liability insurance and what the level of cover is. We carry $20M public liability cover, together with goods-in-transit and workers' compensation insurance. Any business you consider should answer these questions clearly. Be cautious of any company that cannot explain its cover.

Ask how the price is set

A clear quote should explain what it covers. Ask whether the price is confirmed from photos and access details, and whether it includes labour, the truck and disposal. Our starting points are a minimum pickup from $110, with quarter, half, three-quarter and full loads at $498.99, $998.99, $1,498.99 and $1,998.99. Mattresses start at $110 in the Coffs Harbour area. Pianos and spas are quoted individually from $399.99. Travel time is built into each quote.

Ask what happens to the items

Responsible disposal matters. Ask how items are sorted, and whether metal, e-waste and good-condition furniture are recycled or donated. Ask which facilities the waste goes to. A reputable business will explain this without hesitation.

Ask about access and handling

Stairs, narrow doorways, steep driveways and long carries all affect how a job is done. A good operator asks about these before quoting. Ask what equipment the crew brings, for example dollies, straps, blankets and a tail-lift for heavy items.

Ask who you will deal with

Some companies pass enquiries between staff. Others have the same people answer the phone, prepare the quote and supervise the job. Ask who will be responsible for your job and how you can reach them if you have a question on the day.

Check local experience

Local knowledge helps with road access, parking and the kinds of properties common in your area. We have served the Mid North Coast since 2003 and cover the corridor from Port Macquarie to Yamba, including Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Woolgoolga, Nambucca Heads, Kempsey, Grafton and Yamba.
