Same-Day Junk Removal: How It Works

Rubbish and junk removal graphic for homes, businesses and estates, with photo quotes available

Some junk cannot wait a week. A fridge has been sitting in the driveway since the weekend, a tenant has left a room full of rubbish, the garage needs clearing before family arrives, or a small renovation has left a pile of offcuts blocking access. Same-day junk removal is built for those moments. Subject to availability, we can often attend on the day you contact us, and we will tell you clearly what is possible.

We are The Junk Removers & Pick Up Pros, a family-owned business run by John and Leanne Cook. We have been serving the Mid North Coast since 2003 and cover the full corridor from Port Macquarie to Yamba. Our base is in Coffs Harbour, so jobs within that area can be fitted into the daily schedule when space allows.

What same-day depends on

Our existing schedule is the main factor. Same-day is possible when a crew and truck have capacity that day and the job fits the route. Other factors that affect timing include:

  • Load size. A small load is easier to fit into a day than a full truck.
  • Location. Jobs on our regular coastal route are simpler to schedule than jobs that need significant extra travel.
  • Access. Stairs, narrow driveways, long carries and difficult parking all add time.
  • Items. Heavy or specialist items may need extra planning or a second crew member.

Because of these variables, same-day is never a blanket guarantee. What we can promise is honest timing. If we cannot attend on the day, we will tell you the earliest time we can come.

The best way to secure a same-day booking

Text photos to 0415 540 055 as early in the day as possible. Include:

  1. Clear photos of the items from a few angles if needed.
  2. Your suburb and the nearest landmark or street.
  3. Access details: stairs, lifts, parking, steep driveways, or how far the items are from where the truck can park.
  4. A rough list of what needs to go.

The more information you send, the faster we can confirm a price and whether same-day is realistic.

What happens on the day

When we arrive we confirm the items with you, check the access route and load the truck. Our crew does the heavy lifting. Before we leave we make sure the area is clear. Items are sorted for recycling, donation or disposal where practical, and we will tell you what happens to them if you ask.

What we do not take

We do not take asbestos or any waste involving bodily fluids. If you are unsure whether an item is suitable, text a photo and we will confirm before the job is booked.

Pricing and quotes

We confirm the price before you book. Quotes are based on the space the items take in the truck and any special requirements. Our published rates are:

  • Minimum pickup from $110
  • Quarter load $498.99
  • Half load $998.99
  • Three-quarter load $1,498.99
  • Full load $1,998.99

Mattresses start at $110. Pianos and spas are quoted individually from $399.99. Travel time is built into each quote. Afterpay via Square, card, and invoice for approved accounts are available. Pensioner and domestic-violence support discounts can be applied; just ask when you request the quote.

Why the right equipment matters for a fast job

Our enclosed Isuzu Pantech "Merlin" keeps the load secure and out of sight. The 600 kg tail-lift means heavy items are lifted rather than carried, which saves time and reduces the risk of damage or injury. We carry $20M public liability cover on every job. John and Leanne still oversee the bookings, so you deal with the same people from the first text to the finished job.

Preparing the site

If it is safe, move the items as close to the truck access point as possible. Clear a path, remove anything you want to keep, and label it. Let us know about any access restrictions in advance so we arrive prepared.

Text photos, your suburb and access details to 0415 540 055. We will reply with a clear quote and an honest answer about whether we can attend on the same day.

Why photos speed everything up

A photo often tells us more in one look than a long description. A clear picture of a fridge, a stack of boards or a pile of bags lets us judge the volume, the weight and the handling needed. It also lets us tell you early whether an item needs special care. Take photos in daylight if you can, from the doorway or the access route, and include something for scale such as a door or a wheelie bin.

What we will tell you when you call

When you get in touch, we will aim to confirm four things:

  1. Whether we can attend on the same day, and if not, the earliest time we can come.
  2. The price, based on the space the items take in the truck and any access factors.
  3. Whether any items need special handling or extra planning.
  4. What happens to the items after they leave your property.

We would rather tell you clearly that the same day is not possible than leave you waiting on an unclear promise.

Access matters as much as the load

Two jobs of the same size can take very different amounts of time. A load at ground level beside the truck is quick. The same load at the top of a flight of stairs, or behind a locked gate, takes longer. That is why we ask about access. Tell us about stairs, lifts, parking, steep driveways and any distance between the items and the truck. This information helps us plan the crew and the equipment, and it helps keep the quote accurate.

Heavy and bulky items

Fridges, washing machines, chests of drawers, mattresses and large furniture are common same-day requests. Our enclosed Isuzu Pantech has a 600 kg tail-lift, which lets the crew lift heavy items into the truck rather than carry them down driveways. Pianos and spas need careful planning and are quoted individually from $399.99, so tell us about them early in the day if they are part of the job.

Recycling, donation and disposal

We separate what we can before anything goes to landfill. Metal, e-waste and good-quality furniture are sent to recycling or donation where practical. Green waste goes to suitable facilities, and the remainder is taken to licensed facilities. We will not take asbestos or waste involving bodily fluids.

Stay in touch on the day

If the timing changes, we will let you know. If you are not home, tell us in advance how we can access the property and who we should contact if we have a question about the items. Keeping the lines open makes the job faster for everyone.
