Good junk removal does not have to be expensive, and it does not have to end in landfill. Most of the savings come from preparation: sorting what you have, separating what can be reused, and planning one visit rather than several. This article explains how to keep costs down and how responsible disposal works in practice.

We are The Junk Removers & Pick Up Pros, a family-owned business run by John and Leanne Cook. We have served the Mid North Coast since 2003, and we cover the corridor from Port Macquarie to Yamba.

Our published starting points

  • Minimum pickup from $110
  • Quarter load $498.99
  • Half load $998.99
  • Three-quarter load $1,498.99
  • Full load $1,998.99

Mattresses start at $110 in the Coffs Harbour area. Pianos and spas are quoted individually from $399.99. Your quote is confirmed from photos and access details, and travel time is built into it.

Sort before you call

The single biggest saving is sorting. Before you request a quote, put items into four groups:

  1. Items you want to keep
  2. Items that can be donated in good condition
  3. Metal, e-waste and other recyclables
  4. Everything else

A clear list of what needs to go gives an accurate quote, and it helps the crew work quickly on the day.

Donate what can be reused

Good-condition furniture, clothing and household goods often find a new home through local charities. If you want an item donated, tell us when you request the quote. We will advise whether it can be taken with the rest of the load.

Keep the access clear

Stairs, long carries and tight parking add time. Moving items to the front of the property before we arrive, where it is safe, reduces the labour and keeps the price fair. Tell us about access in your first message so the quote reflects the real job.

Plan one visit, not several

Booking separate pickups for each room costs more than one planned visit. Gather everything you want removed, send photos of the whole job, and ask for one quote. Grouping the work usually saves money and time.

Recycling and disposal

We recycle or donate what we can before anything goes to landfill. Metal, e-waste and good-condition furniture are the most likely to be reused. Green waste goes to suitable facilities. Materials that cannot be reused go to licensed facilities. We do not take asbestos or any waste involving bodily fluids.

What to avoid

Dumping rubbish on the roadside or in the bush is illegal, and the cost can be far higher than a planned removal. Hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals and gas bottles need to be identified before the crew arrives so they can be handled correctly. Tell us if you are unsure.

Discounts and payment

Pensioners and people receiving domestic-violence support may be eligible for a discount. Ask when you request the quote. Residential customers can pay by card or Afterpay via Square. Approved commercial accounts can be invoiced.

Insurance

We carry $20M public liability cover, goods-in-transit insurance and workers' compensation insurance on every job.
